One Week STTP on “Advances in Geotechnical Earthquake Engineering” was jointly Organised by IGS – Aurangabad Chapter & Soil Dynamics Forum, ISET in association with Civil Engineering Department, Marathwada Institute of Technology, Beed by pass road, Aurangabad & Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Technological University, Lonere, Raigad on 25th – 29th October 2021.
The workshop started with a formal inauguration session at 10:45 am on 25October 2021 through the online platform of ZOOM app. This included a welcome speech of the Convener; Dr. M.S. Dixit (HCED, MIT Aurangabad &IGS Aurangabad chapter) followed by introductory speeches by co-conveners Dr. R. S. Jakka (Secretary, Soil Dynamics forum, ISET) and Dr. S.M. Pore (Professor, DBATU, Lonere). After this, Dr. N.G. Patil (Director, MIT, Aurangabad) and President IGS, Dr. N.K. Samadhiya (IIT Roorkee) addressed the participants.
IGS Aurangabad Chapter in association with Civil Engineering department, Marathwada Institute of Technology, Aurangabad, Maharashtra successfully conducted one week STTP on the topic “Advances in Geotechnical Engineering and Reliability of Structures” from 23rd to 27th August 2021.
The aim of this STTP was to enhance the participants with the concepts of foundation design, its testing and monitoring, Sustainability in Geotechnics, Advanced Ground Improvement Techniques, Reliability of structures by NDT techniques, Analysis and testing of Pile foundations, Earth retaining structures, Geo-form and its application, Rock Tunneling, Earth retention solutions, Bio-immobilization of Heavy Metals in Sands.
A Webinar on the topic “Case Studies in Geotechnical Engineering” was arranged by IGS Aurangabad Chapter in association with Civil Engineering Department, Marathwada Institute of Technology, Aurangabad on 7th August 2021 at 11:30 am. Er. Ravi Sundaram, Director, Cengrs Geotechnica Pvt. Ltd. Noida, India was the resource person. More than 80 participants (including students and faculty) attended the webinar.
Er. Ravi Sundaram discussed different case studies in Geotechnical Engineering wherein the importance of geological and soil investigation was covered. The undergraduate were highly benefitted by his talk.

The Civil Engineering Department, Marathwada Institute of Technology, Aurangabad and Indian Geotechnical Society, Aurangabad Chapter jointly organised an e-Technical Paper Presentation Competition from 23/04/2020 to 03/05/2020. A total of 32 Groups from different colleges of Maharashtra took part in the competition. After the evaluation, results were declared and the certificates of winners were sent via e-mails. Prize distribution was done Prizes in the form of books, worth Rs. 2500 to the 1st winner, Rs. 1500 worth booksto the 2nd winner and Rs. 1000 worth books to the 3rd winner, were given. Prof. S. T. Patil and Prof. V. R. Upadhye, Civil Engineering Department, MIT, Aurangabad made sincere efforts in organizing the e-competition and made it successful. The prize distribution took place on 12 Sept.2020
One day Technical Quiz Competition was organised by Civil Engineering Department, Marathwada Institute of Technology, Aurangabad in association with Indian Geotechnical Society, Aurangabad Chapter on 08 February 2020. The event was organised at CED, MIT, Aurangabad. The students of Civil Engineering branch from the various colleges nearby to Aurangabad city both UG (Second to Final Year) and Polytechnic (Final Year) were eligible to participate in the competition. The participants had to register in a team of two members for this competition. Total 31 teams participated from various engineering and polytechnic colleges
Three days workshop from 3rd – 5th Oct. 2019 was jointly organized by Indian Geotechnical society- Aurangabad chapter and Civil Engineering Department of Marathwada Institute of Technology, Aurangabad.
Engineers from various Government departments like Irrigation, PWD, Municipal Corporation, consultants, practicing engineers and faculty members of different engineering colleges in Aurangabad participated in the workshop. Total 117 participants were present in the workshop out of which 85 were students from final year civil engineering of engineering colleges in and around Aurangabad and 32 participants were from Industry.
