The 53rd IGS Local Chapter has been inaugurated at Tadepalligudem and a one-day workshop on SUSTAINABLE PRACTICES IN CIVIL ENGINEERING (SPCE-2024) was organized on 10th February 2024 (Saturday) at Sasi Institute of Technology & Engineering, Tadepalligudem.
National Conference on Soils and Foundations was organized by the IGS Thiruvananthapuram Chapter in collaboration with the Deep Foundations Institute (India), ISSMGE TC212, and LBS Institute of Technology for Women, scheduled from February 15th to 17th, 2024. On the inauguration day, the TS Ramanatha Ayyer lecture was delivered by Prof. B K Maheswari. Congratulations to Dr. N Unnikrishnan, Chairman, Dr. Jayamohan J, Secretary, along with other office bearers of the IGS Thiruvananthapuram chapter, and the entire organizing team of the conference.
A one-day workshop on Sustainable Geotechnics and Geophysical Investigations for Site characterization was organized by the IGS Calicut chapter and NIT Calicut on 16th February 2024. We extend our warmest congratulations to Prof. S Chandrakaran for his distinguished recognition upon his retirement during the workshop. Congratulations to Prof. S Chandrakaran, Chairman, Dr. Vandana, Secretary, Dr. Rangaswamy K, Dr. Anil Kumar, and other office bearers of the IGS Calicut Chapter for successfully organizing the workshop.
The aim of the site visit was to make the students aware of the practical and field aspects of laying Geotextiles.
The site at Ramankary, Alappuzha District was taken as the site for visit since it had ongoing works for the laying of coir Geotextiles as part of the Rebuild Kerala Initiative. Krishna Kumar, Assistant Engineer, Rebuild Kerala Initiative was there as the industry expert to explain about the project

The Inauguration ceremony of IGS- Saintgits Student Chapter was held on 26th May, 2022 in VB Seminar Hall, Department of Civil Engineering, Saintgits College of Engineering. Shri. Thomas T John ( Director, Saintgits group of Institution) , Dr. Josephkunj Paul C ( Principal, Saintgits College of Engineering), Dr. Soosan George T (Dean, Department of Civil Engineering), Dr. Reebu Zachariah Koshy (HOD, Department of Civil Engineering), Dr. Hari G (Mentor - IGS Student Chapter) and Er. Hanna Paul (Faculty coordinator - IGS Student Chapter) shared dias along with the chief guests of the inaugural function Dr. M D Nair (Chairman - IGS Kochi Chapter) and Dr. Anil Joseph (Hon. Secretary - IGS Kochi Chapter). Off the dais, faculty members and students graced the seminar hall by their valuable presence.
Dr. Anil Joseph (Managing Director – GEO STRUCTURALS PVT.LTD, IGS Kochi Chapter – Hon. Secretary) delivered expert talk on “Monitoring Blast Induced Vibration and Structural Assessment During Implosion of High Rise Buildings” to the students of M.Tech, Geomechanics and Structures and M.Tech, Structural and Construction Management. He discussed vibration effects caused by demolition of building by Implosion and the challenges faced during the demolition process of Maradu flat.

International Society for Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering (ISSMGE) Technical Committee TC-107 on Tropical Residual Soils is organising 2nd Symposium on Laterites and Lateritic Soils - Problems and Remedies on 2nd December 2023. Indian Geotechnical Society Thiruvananthapuram Chapter and Mar Baselios College of Engineering and Technology, Trivandrum (MBCET) are organizing National Seminar on Modern Geotechnical Practices at MBCET, Thiruvananthpauram on 29.11.2023 from 9.30 am to 5.00 pm. One-Day Workshop on the "Importance of Indian Standards in the Construction Field." This workshop is organized as a part of the celebratory events marking the 60th anniversary of the esteemed National Institute of Technology Tiruchirappalli and the 75th anniversary of the Indian Geotechnical Society (IGS). The event is a collaborative effort between the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), NIT Puducherry, and the IGS Trichy Chapter.
