IGS Silchar Student Chapter was inaugurated on 15th of March, 2019 under the patronage of Dr. G. L. Sivakumar Babu, President IGS and Prof. J. T. Sahu, Hon'y Secretary IGS in the presence of Prof. Sivaji Bandopadhyay, Director of NIT Silchar, on the inaugural day of 7th Indian Young Geotechnical Engineer's Conference held at NITS. The scope of IGSSC to motivate the students, to give them exposure to different careers and opportunities in this area, and also to develop leadership skills among the students.
