Dr. Soukat Kumar Das is an Assistant Professor of Civil Engineering at NIT Rourkela. He completed his B.E. from Jadavpur University, M.Tech. from IIT Roorkee, and Ph.D. from IIT Kanpur, followed by postdoctoral research at KAUST, Saudi Arabia. A Life Member of the Indian Geotechnical Society, he currently serves as Honorary Secretary of the IGS Rourkela Local Chapter, the Society’s 57^th Local Chapter. He has actively participated in IGS conferences and technical programmes and has served as a panel member, session chair and co-chair. He is leading an internationally sponsored and multiple consultancy projects. He serves as a reviewer for many international journals. His research spans granular mechanics, computational geomechanics, ground improvement, coastal geotechnics, and data-driven methods in geotechnical engineering. As an IGS Executive Committee member, he aims to strengthen student and young-member engagement, academia-industry collaboration, local chapter activities, technical training, and the wider dissemination of emerging trends in geotechnical engineering.
