The opening of the chapter was approved in the month of October 2019 and subsequently, it was inagurated formally on February 8, 2020 at the hands of Prof. G.L. Siva Kumar Babu (then President IGS, New Delhi). Prof. M. N. Viladkar (IIT Roorkee) and Prof. N.K. Samadhiya (IIT Roorkee)  were the Guest of Honour. Prof. L. K. Awasthi, erstwhile Ditector, NIT Jalandhar presided over the function. The establishment of the chapter was initiated by Prof A K Agnihotri (NIT Jalandhar). The chapter has got around 26 members who are also associated with the IGS New Delhi. Since its inception, IGS- Jalandhar Chapter has undertaken many activities till August 2023. The chapter organized two international conferences and one national conference beside three short term courses/ faculty development programme along with one one day workshop. In addition to this, the chapter has conducted many webinars wherein the experts from abroad and within the country delivered lectures. Prof. A.K. Agnihotri (NITJ) and Dr. H. S. Chore (NITJ) are the founder Chairman and Secretary of the chapter, respectively.
